“Social Excellence” can make you cool

The new book from Phired Up says being “socially excellent” isn’t about being cool or popular. I would argue that being a student leader who intentionally connects with his or her community is pretty damn cool. Buy the book, get off your smart phone and look someone in the eye. It might just change everything.

Hazing and human rights

“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” If it’s good enough for the fraternity of nations, then perhaps it’s good enough for your fraternity – or sorority, or band, or club, or team. It’s National Hazing Prevention Week.

Apologize authentically

When you screw up, do you offer a clear, unequivocal, unqualified apology? Or, are you expecting the other person to instantly absolve you and make you feel better? The authentic apology expects nothing in return.
